Start-up Nation Israel meets NRW is a joint international event, organized by NRW.Global Business and KI.NRW, focussing on the use of artificial intelligence in hospitals. The event brings together notable speakers from NRW and Israel to discuss what constitutes a smart hospital and how utilizing AI in healthcare can bolster the efficacy of hospitals in both regions. How can AI help improve patient care while reducing costs and administrative work and what are the ethical questions that arise in the process? Hear what experts have to say on these topics and enjoy two pitches from start-ups already knee-deep in the field.
As the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer of Philips said in 2019, »Israel is unique in the way that people coming from the medical field are open to applying new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data. When these two worlds find each other, that’s when the magic happens.« Israel is considered one of the biggest tech hubs for medical devices and digital health globally. In 2021, the country received $1.9 billion in funding for digital health companies, per figures provided by Start-Up Nation Central. As of this year, Israel is home to almost 500 companies dedicated to healthcare. In North-Rhine Westphalia on the other hand innovative medicine scores with innovative start-ups and SMEs, internationally active large companies and institutions of top-level research. The diversity of the innovation landscape in NRW ranges from classic business fields such as pharmaceuticals, medical technology, medical biotechnology and an enormously strong and diverse supply and research landscape with many innovative approaches to new and emerging business fields such as artificial intelligence, digital health applications, personalized medicine and many other areas from the field of future technologies.
